Teach your children well #CUYouthMonth

first_img 2SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr by: Lindsey RichardsonTo kick off National Credit Union Youth Month (April 1-30, 2015), I thought it would be appropriate to start a conversation regarding youth savings programs.  Credit unions across the country participate in various types of youth savings programs, including collaborations with K-12 schools to offer financial education programs, or in-school credit unions that offer students basic savings accounts.  These programs are intended to teach kids the importance of personal financial management, banking operations, and saving for college.  While these programs are a great benefit to the community, there have been some institutions that are hesitant to participate due to uncertainty about legal and regulatory considerations.[Drum roll please…]Enter the Interagency Guidance to Encourage Financial Institutions’ Youth Savings Programs and Address Related Frequently Asked Questions, aka your credit union’s guide to incorporating a successful youth savings program.  The NCUA, FinCEN, OCC, FDIC, and Fed came together last month to provide this guidance to financial institutions, which addresses common questions such as:Are there restrictions on minors opening savings accounts? How old must a person be to open a savings account without a parent or guardian serving as the custodian or co-owner on the account? Can a minor with a custodial account be issued an ATM or debit card? continue reading »last_img read more

Microsoft sees growth amid pandemic computing demands

Hughton: Ruddy ready to push Hart

first_img Ruddy was selected in Roy Hodgson’s squad for the matches against Moldova next Friday and Ukraine the following Tuesday, along with Hart and Celtic’s uncapped Fraser Forster. Hodgson has backed Hart despite the goalkeeper being blamed for his part in Manchester City’s shock 3-2 defeat by Cardiff on Sunday and being at fault for the first goal as England beat Scotland 3-2 earlier this month. Hughton, however, insists Ruddy, who missed a large chunk of last season when he underwent an operation on a thigh injury, is in the sort of form to put real pressure on Hart. Hughton said: “Any player that goes on international duty is there on merit and to challenge and to play. “If I look at the progress he (Ruddy) has made over the last few seasons he has the capabilities to really push for a place. “It’s early in the season but if I look at the reaction from a disappointing season for him last season, at least the last two thirds of the season with the injury, he has made a full recovery from that and at the moment is back to where he was before the injury. “I think he has done well and has put himself in position to put pressure on the position. And that’s how it should be. Anyone who is involved in an international squad should be there on merit and feel they can put real competition on that position. “He’s a big personality, a big frame, and his performances for us over the last few seasons have very much warranted him being in that international squad.” Norwich manager Chris Hughton believes goalkeeper John Ruddy is ready to put pressure on England’s number one Joe Hart when the vital World Cup qualifiers get under way next week.center_img Press Associationlast_img read more

Olivier Giroud Focus

first_img Olivier Giroud is one of the options currently at Arsene Wenger’s disposal and he was deployed as the lone striker in Sunday’s Premier League opener against West Ham – a match the Gunners lost 2-0. Here, Press Association Sport analyses the performance of the France international. There have been plenty of protracted rumours linking Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema with a move to Arsenal as they look to add more fire-power to their squad. GOAL THREAT Non-existent in the opening 45 minutes, he rippled the side-netting as Arsenal set about finding an equaliser after the break before forcing Adrian into a low save with a deflected effort moments later. Never had another clear-cut chance but can be forgiven after receiving a nasty blow on the back of the head when challenging for a high ball with James Tomkins. WORK RATE Waited for the ball on a number of occasions early on and was less pro-active than the Arsenal fans would have liked. Still proves a little immobile at times and that can be problematic for a striker flying solo. Never looked in the game and will be disappointed not to have taken a chance to silence his critics, who say he is not good enough to fire Arsenal to the title. CROWD REACTION Moans and groans as he did not hit the ground running but given a good reception when forced on to the sidelines following his heavy knock. Arsenal fans appreciate Giroud’s contribution but no doubt most are in hope that another forward comes in before the deadline. DO ARESENAL NEED BENZEMA? Yes. Giroud will always score goals, as will the likes of Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck, while Alexis Sanchez will obviously add to the collective tally. But in Benzema, Wenger would have a striker proven at scoring well over 20 goals at the highest level. With the system deployed by Wenger, Giroud is arguably the forward most suited to what his manager wants from a front-man, but Benzema would be seen as an upgrade in almost every area. center_img Press Associationlast_img read more
