Europe needs stronger foundations IATA

first_imgSource = e-Travel Blackboard: K.W International Air Transport Association (IATA) director general Tony Tyler has urged European regulators and policymakers to strengthen aviation foundations, to build the region’s industry.Addressing people at the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) Triennial Session meeting in Strasbourg, Mr Tyler said civil aviation in Europe contributes some $750 billion to the European economy, supporting some 8.7 million jobs.The meeting addressed several key issues including delivering the Single European Sky, ensuring sufficient infrastructure capacity to accommodate growth in connectivity, supporting the Africa Strategy Improvement Action Plan for safety and support for the Checkpoint of the Future to improve airport security.Mr Tyler also addressed the need to defuse international tension over Europe’s Emissions Trading Scheme and support a global agreement on market-based measures under the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).last_img read more
