While the Arizona Cardinals are projected to select the Oklahoma product with the No. 1 overall pick, the Oakland Raiders might join the sweepstakes.Oakland spent millions of dollars this offseason to improve its roster through free agency. General manager Mike Mayock also made the decision to acquire Antonio Brown in a trade with Pittsburgh. With three picks in the first round of the NFL Draft, it’s imperative that Oakland finds prospects that can contribute next season.Well, it turns out that Jon Gruden could have his sights set on drafting a quarterback.Regardless of all the rumors linking Murray to the Cardinals, the Raiders had a workout with the Heisman Trophy winner on Monday. Albert Breer of The MMQB first reported the news of the meeting. The Raiders’ official Twitter confirmed the meeting by posting a photo of Murray next to Tim Brown.Just Heisman stuff. pic.twitter.com/mK2ZeALtao— Oakland Raiders (@Raiders) April 1, 2019Murray heading to Oakland would change the landscape of the league. Not only would it give Gruden a dual-threat quarterback, but it’d also signify a potential trade involving Derek Carr.Considering how management holds Carr in such high regard, it’s possible that working out Murray is simply the team doing their due diligence. On the flip side, it could be a tactic to force other teams to trade up on April 25.Either way, the likelihood is that Murray will be off the board once the first five picks are over.
